Ankahee -- Lesser known movie of Deepti Naval

I never heard of this movie .. even though I am such big admirer of Deepti Naval. Because this is a Deepti Naval movie. All about her and of course beautiful direction by Amol Palekar himself.

Beautiful story.. never heard of such a story and depicted so beautiful.

The smart intelligent girlfriend who portrayed independence and clarity of thoughts and virtues so rare in Hindi movie :) Her sarees and clothes depict her independence in thoughts not superficially in her clothes

And then there is Deepti Naval.. innocent but happy. Naive and childhish.....

Yellow blouse and Red saree.. colors of India.. colors of Indian women...unafraid of colors and unafraid of adorning them. Unaware and Unconcerned.

The slow emergence of urbanization in her attire .. in her saree.. in her way of putting them together.

Visual Delight -- Duvidha

This movie should be a coffee book instead of a movie. It was a visual delight for me to stumble upon this movie by sheer chance and I can say that it is a piece of art . Not the script, not the actors , not  the story but just the cinematography.

There is nothing in this movie which really tells a story through words because then you will be disappointed instead it tells the story through stark white walls of Rajasthan and deep red hues of women of Rajasthan. The woman of the movie doesn't utter a word or potrays any expression but she says it still and conveys it as well.. the director makes her say a lot with her silence.

There is nothing happening but the story is going now somehow. Its moving along with with everything less .. less noise, less movement, less drama, less voice. But moving it is ... we don't know who is feeling what and when but something must have been going in within ...since the story find its end.

What a find ! What a beauty!

Gaman -- Smita Patil and Farooque Sheikh

This movie exudes such simplicity that my soul craves more of it. Easy flow of real truth.. truth which is undesired and ignored but still it exists in its plainness and simplicity.

Barrenness of it all is what made me love this movie. There are nostalgia of my childhood spent in these village .. the memory overwhelms me and I sigh !

Mirch Masala -- The awesome Smita Patil

Mirch Masala -- The awesome Smita Patil

There is only one movie like this.. Mirch Masala. I have watched it so many times but every time it teaches me something new...the strength of one lone woman who stands against everything she has...her village, her family,, her friends. The conviction of Kali is inspiring.

She stands against the power without much word. Without too much drama..without complains of modern generations , never fretted, never any over dose of word . No melodrama .Just courage, Plain courage.

Mirch Masala

These are the attire of desert women of India.. chaniya Choli and lehenge for the ordinary women and sarees for the landladies and people of stature. The backless choli add to ther feminine confidence.

There is so much red and crimson maybe to substitute the parched and arid desert of Rajasthan. The prints, mirrors, handiwork mellows the brunt of the weather.

Kissi Se Na Kehna -- Deepti Naval

Another classic movie of Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval bringing together simplicity and style.

Deepti Naval makes a statement by pairing simple pink-red saree with a complementary printed blouse.   I wonder if Farooq Sheikh is trying to match his shirt with her attire !

This is my favorite saree in this movie. It almost reflects the love song that Deepti Naval is crooning . The white saree is beautifully light and free flowing and the pink flowers spreads around like happiness and excitement.

Red and Yellow. Deep Yellow and Blood Red. The color of Indian marriage.

Once again Deepti Naval  matches and mixes her rich traditional and heavy saree with simple red blouse which gives her that simpler look that she always strives to get .
